Trails & Activities

🥾 John Muir Trail

Classic Kettle Moraine loops ranging 4–16 miles. Mix of prairie, forest, and kettles. Trailhead near Ottawa Lake.

🧊 Ice Age Trail

Designated National Scenic Trail tracing the edge of the last glacier. Multiple segments accessible from the Southern Unit.

🚵 Emma Carlin Trail

Mountain biking and hiking. About 12 miles of scenic wooded singletrack and doubletrack.

🛶 Ottawa Lake Canoe Trail

Paddling trail on Ottawa Lake. Canoe/kayak rentals available on-site.

🏊 Swimming

Swimming beach at Ottawa Lake and Whitewater Lake. Lifeguard hours vary — check at the park office.

Primitive Campground — No Showers Onsite

Hickory Woods & Whitewater Lake have vault toilets only. Closest showers: Ottawa Lake Campground or Pinewoods Campground. Bring shower wipes, towel + sandals, backup water jug.

Firewood — Don't Bring It From Home

Firewood must be from within 10 miles of the park, or DATCP-certified. Stops the spread of emerald ash borer. Buy it at the park or nearby.

Sites 763 & 764 have a 30-foot max driveway. Plan trailer/RV lengths accordingly.
